National Physical Therapy Month: CNS PTs Share Their Why

Community Nursing Services - National Physical Therapy Month: CNS PTs Share Their Why

Physical Therapists play a key role in improving movement and overall well-being for people of all ages and abilities. At CNS, we are blessed to have a team of skilled, dedicated, and passionate PTs who improve the lives of our patients day in and day out. This National Physical Therapy Month, we asked members of our amazing PT team to share why they do this critical work with CNS.

Working with this company through all these years has proven to be very satisfying and fulfilling in my personal growth and career. The amount of growth, support, and recognition has been immeasurable coming from both supervisory staff and patients/clients. Overall, as a physical therapist, this company has enriched me personally, in life, with views towards health, healthcare, and interrelations with people. – Diosdado Articona "Dads", PT, Tooele Branch

PTMonth 01I have had experience working with several home health agencies over the years. I enjoy working for CNS Home Health Services because they allow me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients every day. CNS is supportive in my professional growth as a physical therapist. I appreciate the flexibility and autonomy that comes with working as a home health physical therapist, as it enables me to build strong, individualized relationships with patients in the comfort of their homes. Being part of a team that is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and PT independence truly makes my work rewarding. – Kevin Fisher, PT, St. George Branch

Working with CNS helps me feel that I am doing my best as a Physical Therapist. I am able to help people when they're very vulnerable and able to help them get back to life and sometimes add years to their life. I work with people on home health or hospice. I am able to help people when they're in pain and helping them to be more comfortable. Working with CNS has helped me to feel that I am achieving my dream for what I want to do and be as a Physical Therapist. – Sean Fullmer, DPT, Logan Branch

PTMonth 02As a physical therapist moving from NY to Utah in 2019 and searching through many home health agencies, I was so blessed to finally find Community Nursing Services about 5 years ago. I am very proud to be part of this amazing team. CNS represents excellence, compassion, and high professional standards. I have great admiration and respect for my fellow colleagues and managers. My patients tell me often how happy they are with our care and will use us again. In addition, the agency has an expansive referral base which is a testament to its exceptional patient care, outstanding communication, and dedicated office staff. I love working for Community Nursing Services and look forward to continuing this rewarding journey for years to come. – Claudia Giannelli, DPT, Salt Lake Branch

Having been a therapist now for almost 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless individuals recover from illness or injury. Just in the last few years, I’ve been able to appreciate the special skills and talents I bring to the table in providing care for others. I truly was meant to do what I do! I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to really love helping others and making magic happen in their lives.

PTMonth 05I remember sitting in my commencement exercises in my cap and gown, reflecting on my education. I smirked when the following thought came into my mind, “You idiot! You just got a degree in common sense!” 30 years later, I see how wrong I was. Yes, much of the technical side of my job is quite logical and just makes sense, but what I missed out on, though, was the human side of it. The compassion, the caring, the challenge, the heartfelt connection one makes when you’ve been charged with helping heal. I couldn’t be more appreciative for those I’ve worked with who have allowed me to accompany them on their healing journey. It truly has been my pleasure! Their journeys, your journeys, have helped lift me more than I ever imagined. Bless those of you who have allowed me to assist you and your loved ones.

Many thanks to CNS for bringing me into this amazing family! Where else could I have had the opportunity to work in my two favorite settings, outpatient and home care?! (I can't tell you how much I miss interacting with all you amazing people at headquarters everyday! Such good times!) – Burke D. Maughan, PT, NASM-CES, IADN CERT

PTMonth 03I have been a physical therapist with Community Nursing Services for the past 19 years. I have worked for another nonprofit agency prior to that and it did not feel like nonprofit, because of the emphasis upon numbers and bottom line. CNS does feel like a nonprofit agency because of the amount of charity visits provided, along with other programs such as CNS Wish. Overall, my colleagues of all disciplines exhibit extreme competence and dedication to patients, which makes me proud to be a part of CNS and makes my job easier. – Scott McGaw, PT, Salt Lake Branch

I decided to become a physical therapist 16 years ago when I discovered my passion for learning how the human body works. I wanted to provide a net good for the world as I made my living and wanted to help people learn how to improve their lives through exercise and physical interventions. After I experienced different settings and companies within the therapy world, I was impressed with the reputation that Community Nursing Services had along the Wasatch front. I have been happy to be part of the CNS team for the past 10 years and have enjoyed the journey to facilitate growth in Utah County while utilizing my orthopedic background to help patients recover from joint replacements and return to their best life. – Jake McKay, DPT, Provo Branch

PTMonth 04I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and I have worked for Community Nursing Services for over 20 years. I enjoy working with CNS mostly because of the staff. I enjoy working with the nurses, aides, other therapists, and with the office staff. Everyone here treats each other with respect, and everyone works hard to provide patients with the best care and services that we can. Over the years, CNS corporate has been very supportive of its employees, and I have had no complaints with management over the 20 years. The work environment is great, and everyone treats each other with kindness. The autonomy to treat the patients how we see fit has also been wonderful. There is no micromanagement here, which allows me to treat my patients the best way I know how. For me, CNS has demonstrated time and again that they are concerned with always doing the right thing for each patient, and that makes working here one of the best places to work. – Brian Powell, DPT, Price Branch

I work with CNS out of the Brigham branch and have for several years. The best part is the people. The patients and also the staff I get to work with who are dedicated to helping get their patients better. It's awesome to be able to work with people in their home environment where we can make a huge difference in their day-to-day life. – Brett Stringham, DPT, Brigham City Branch
