Honor Salute: Navy Lt. Commander Leonard J. Swinyer

SwinyerHonorSalute leadCommunity Nursing Services was honored to recognize Leonard (Len) J. Swinyer through the CNS Honor Salute Program. A Lt. Commander in the Navy during the Vietnam War, Len was stationed at the Marine Hospital in Quantico, Va. He was in charge of hospital laboratories, as well as FBI forensic cases on the base. Len was ROTC for 7 years and active duty for 2.5 years, and his background made him board eligible in internal medicine and pathology and board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology.

Outside of his naval service, Len was also an investigator for his family’s research company, the Dermatology Research Center. The center did clinical studies for FDA approval of new drugs for dermatology.
