Diane’s Senior Wish:
A Grand Family Party
The CNS Layton Branch recently hosted a very special Senior Wish for a hospice patient named Diane. Diane was diagnosed with terminal cancer this past winter and began receiving compassionate hospice care from our team a few months later. One of her nurses spoke with Diane about our Senior Program, and asked if she would like to request a Wish.
Diane knew exactly what she wanted: a dinner party and photos with her family. CNS Director of Volunteers, Tracy Ruiz, worked with Diane’s son, Blake, and her daughter-in-law, Jenifer, to plan the special occasion. Together, they arranged to host the party at a local library, gathered decorations, and ordered Chinese from Royal Dragon! Diane loved Chinese Food and for dessert we had another one of her favorites, Cheesecake.
Diane has a large family and wanted everyone to be there. Thanks to our donors, we were able to provide dinner for more than 50 of Diane’s loved ones for this memorable occasion. Diane shared many times that evening with everyone around her that she didn’t want the party to end.
Tracy Ruiz shares, “working with families who have so much love in their hearts and want to create a lasting memory like this party is such an honor. I loved working with Blake and Jenifer to put together this wonderful evening for Diane. I will keep this experience close to my heart.”
Diane passed away a few weeks after her party at the age of 76. Her daughter-in-law, Jenifer, shared that she spoke about her Senior Wish party many times with family members during those weeks. “She was so excited to have everyone there and really didn’t want it to end. We told her that the library was closing, and she just wanted to stay and continue to visit. We hung the decorations up in her bedroom afterward so she could continue to relive the memory of that night. Her final Wish was that our family would love one another, find peace, and be happy.” Diane loved her Senior Wish Night, and the Noble Family would like to say Thank You again for making her Senior Wish come true!
