Max the Cat Brings Comfort To CNS Hospice Patient

CNS hospice patient, Vivian, has always been a cat lover, but wasn’t able to have cats after she married her husband who had severe cat allergies. Still, Vivian's fondness for cats never faded. At the end of her life, she shared with CNS Social Worker, Lora Bell, her wish to spend time with a cat one last time.

Which is where Max the Cat came in.  Lora shared, “I knew that Max was the perfect companion for this bittersweet moment. Max is the sweetest, most dapper cat you'll ever meet, and I was confident he would stay calm and gentle, allowing Vivian to fulfill her Wish.”

When Lora brought Max to Vivian's bedside, her face lit up with joy. She gently stroked Max's soft fur, a look of pure contentment washing over her.

Lora shared that Vivian passed away just days after her encounter with Max. “The memory of that special interaction brought myself and Vivian so much joy and solace. It's a beautiful reminder of the power of the human-animal bond, and the profound impact a single creature can have on a life.”

Max's role in honoring Vivian's final wish highlights the significance of simple gestures in providing comfort and support during a person’s end of life journey.
