Community Nursing Services (CNS) is a community-based, not-for-profit, full service home care corporation established in 1928 in Utah. CNS is composed of five operating divisions including CNS VNA (Medicare certified home care), CNS home health Plus (private duty & insurance payor), CNS Pharmacy, and CNS Community hospice(Certified hospice) which also includes pediatric hospice and related services as well as AIDS/HIV care.
CNS is one of the few CHAP accredited home health and hospice agencies in a six-state regional area. CHAP was the first home care accrediting body in the nation to receive deemed status from the federal government. By approving CHAP for deemed status, the government certified that CHAP's Standards for Excellence met or exceeded the government's own standards for Medicare certification. Of the 9,000 home health agencies in the nation, only about 350 are CHAP accredited.
The mission of CNS is to help clients realize their health goals by obtaining high quality, cost-effective health care and related services at home. CNS attends to the home care needs of people from every income level in Utah by accepting almost every type of private insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid. CNS even provides services to many uninsured and under-insured individuals through charitable contributions and fund-raising efforts. CNS cares for thousands of patients annually, making it one of the largest home care providers in Utah.
We are proud to be a partner in the Utah home health Coalition (UHHC) whose eight home health agencies provide services to all counties, cities and towns in Utah. CNS also helped establish the Idaho Coalition of home health Agencies (ICHHA). These two coalitions contract with nearly every third-party payor in the region to provide home care and related services wherever they are needed, whenever they are needed.
Community Nursing Services (CNS) will be the provider of choice for com
munity and home health care services.
We create moments and experiences that heal individuals and families, by providing compassionate care, and by putting health, dignity, comfort and well-being first. We are a non-profit organization and it is our privilege to serve you and the communities in which we live.
85 Years and Still Making House Calls!
Community Nursing Services (CNS) was established in 1928 in Salt Lake City, to provide nursing care for sick people in their homes as an alternative to hospitalization. CNS began as an voluntary, non-profit agency, when the existing Visiting Nursing Association of Salt Lake and the Private Duty Registry were combined. In 1930, Salt Lake Community Nursing Services became a participating agency of the Community Chest, later to be known as United Way.
